ADSL Broadband: Vodacom vs. Telkom

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is of the opinion that consumers can expect to see a titanic clash between Vodacom and Telkom in the coming months and years. The planned launch of Telkom’s own mobile service later this year and Vodacom’s plans to counter it by launching an ADSL consumer service of their own, are expected to provide the sparks that will ignite intense competition between the two telecoms giants. 

Clash of the giants… 

One cannot help but to refer to the brewing competition between Vodacom and Telkom as ‘the clash of the giants.’ It’s no secret that Vodacom is currently the uncontested king of broadband in South Africa, especially of Mobile Broadband services. This is true if one considers that they have well over a million 3G/HSDPA subscribers alone. On the other hand, Telkom has well over 600 000 ADSL Broadband subscribers, which make them the largest ADSL Broadband or Fixed-Line Provider in South Africa.
