ADSL Broadband: Telkom’s Terrific Tariff News

ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa), 10 July 2011

Telkom announced excellent news for their subscribers in June this year that will help subscribers to put some extra money into their pockets in one way and will cost them more in another area. Savings for subscribers will be evident in the form of a 1.7 percent reduction in the tariffs for data and voice services. The new prices will be valid from the first of August this year. Tariff reductions will apply to data connective services, DSL (ADSL), outgoing calls and for Telkom line rentals.

Subscribers can expect better value for money with regards to ADSL and the fact that call rates will be lower to both international and local destinations.

On the flip side however, ADSL installations will be more expensive and the line rental will cost more each month. Subscribers with faster DSL speeds are now paying 11.3 percent less effective from the first of July. This represents a savings of R37 per month or R444 annually. Telkom announced this once they had increased the DSL speed for their 512Kbps subscribers to 1024Kbps in May this year.

Other Telkom tariffs will not be altered at all. While the pricing structure for the Do Broadband bundle pricing is unchanged, high end users will have better value for money service come September first 2011. All of these 2 & 3 Do Broadband bundle subscribers will now enjoy an extra 1GB at no extra cost.
