ADSL Broadband: New broadband technology successfully
tested
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South
Africa), 26 October 2010
Word is out
that Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has successfully tested a new broadband technology that makes it possible to
achieve data transmission speeds of up to 825 Mbps (megabits per second) via standard copper
wires.
825
Mbps over 400 meters…
NSN has
achieved data transmission speeds of 825 Mbps over 400 meters of bonded copper lines and 750 Mbps over 500 meters
of bonded copper lines during testing. This is lightning fast if one considers that the fastest ADSL line speed available to the residential market
in South Africa today is 10 Mbps.
