Has Telkom waited on EASSy bandwidth to become available before starting with the 10 Mbps ADSL line speed
upgrades?
Maybe.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) is of the
opinion that Telkom has waited on EASSy bandwidth to become available before starting with the
10 Mbps ADSL line speed upgrades. We cannot say it with
100% certainty, but we’re sure the additional bandwidth capacity provided by the East African Submarine Cable
System (EASSy) did form part of Telkom’s decision on the timing of the relevant ADSL line speed upgrades. It’s
after all no secret that those with faster ADSL lines have the means to use bandwidth at a much faster rate than
those with slow ADSL lines.
In other words, we might be wrong, but we are of the opinion that the availability of EASSy bandwidth has something
to do with the fact that Telkom has only started with the 10 Mbps ADSL line speed upgrades now.
ADSL South Africa (Broadband South Africa) welcomes the 10 Mbps ADSL line speed upgrades and trust that Telkom is
already working on the next ADSL line speed upgrades.
